christmas was kinda exciting this year. it started yesterday actually. watched a midnight show at amk and after that show, it was already like 2.30am. i didn't want to take cab cuz it's too expensive so i decided to jog home. its a good thing that i went to play squash with loke chia and mugen at edmund's place in the afternoon so i had proper gear on for jogging.
when i finally got home at around 3am, i was so tired that as i undressed and walked towards the toilet, my shoulder banged into the wall real hard and got a bruise as a result. slept shortly after talking to ivan on msn.
this morning, my cg decided to go out for lunch at a surprise place that mella suppose to bring us. it ended up to a miscommunication so we gave him a milkshake and apple juice at the side entrance of riverwalk. we had our lunch at fishermen's wharf and in the mean time, we were discussing our plans for later. to cut the long story short, we planned to bake turkey at jerick's house.
jerick expected us to be there in the evening but he was wrong. we came str8 after lunch to put our bags before going grocery shopping. but, he's house was too windy and comfortable that all of us just laid on the floor and slept or laze around for like 2 hrs before setting off.
went to j8 ntuc fair price the first time but couldn't find turkey so we thought the other one at another side of bishan might have but we were wrong. so we walked back to j8 to buy ham as a replacement to turkey but found one turkey left. it cost like around 50 bucks and has very little meat. then we thought that it won't be enough to feed so many of us thus we made our way to buy ham at another counter. then, edmud stopped us cuz he's anti pork and insisted that we should get chicken ham but being so MAN, how can we eat chicken ham. it was then that marcus volunteered to cook grilled beef for us. it wasn't really grilled but it was nice.
after grocery shopping, we went to the dvd rental shop. we chose a vcd each and played ji gu ba to determine which cd to rent. i won the first round but the cd i wanted got rented out alr so ya. the next round derric won. he was super happy but after talking to the lady boss, she asked for our IC and none of us have it with us. then she demanded a $50 deposit and we didn't have that much cash, thus we left the place empty handed and returned to jerick's house.
fortunately, marcus went home to load some movies into his ipod and transfered the file so we could watch it on tv. we watched resident evil iii and half of transformers. resident evil started off quite cool but it ended up to be some poor rated crap which can link with alien vs predator.
okie. im really tired now and before i forget, the over the top photos are on the right side of the blog.

3 days 2 night passed by like a breeze. i thank God for the weather and how much He has blessed the cg during this trip. throughout our stay at genting, it rained non stop except for the time when we were out at the amusement park. it only rained when all of us were super tired already.
most of us stayed over at someone's house on d day minus 1. i was at mugen's at around 10pm. we wanted to play cards but we were too tired to do anything so we just watched some mtvs on youtube before turning in at around 12am.
gave all the grps morning call. apparently, everyone was awake rather early but not all were on time. we got on the bus at 7am and left for genting. jerrick slept throughout the whole 7 hrs except for the custom thingy. after derric slapped him on the chest, someone threw a jacket at him, slammed a pillow on his face, he remained motionless.
the whole bus ride, we played bridge, pig, psp, dai di, talk nonsense, sleep, eat, watch movie and before u knew it, we were at the foot of the mountain (entrance of genting). the bus driver had to do alot of sharp turns which my cg calls it drifting. we were quite impressed with the way he made all the turnings and made alot of noise until we reached our destination. the temperature dropped alot but due to the fact that we were in the bus, we didn't feel it until we alighted.
checking in took up 1.5 hrs. we had to wait for 1 hr before it was our turn to get the keys, thus we went for lunch at kenny rogers. the lady took quite awhile before she got all of our orders but the food came pretty fast. the chicken is bigger but the portion for the sides were smaller.
i went to get the keys with mugen while the rest stayed there. managed to get 2 connected rooms and one single. single room was in between the 2 connected rooms. the girls were well protected but dun think they felt peaceful.
it took us half an hour to get to our rooms and here's y. firstly, we took the lift at tower 1 and realised that we couldn't go to 6th floor. thus, we pressed lvl 8 and took the stairs down to lvl 6. lvl 6 door was locked, so we walked all the way down to level 1. on the way down, there were alot of dead moths which were really BIG. after lvl3, it was lvl 2b, 2a followed by 2. when we reached one, there was this flood which none of us wanted to get our shoes wet, thus we decided to get back to where we were, which was lvl 4 or 5, where the door wasn't locked. from there, we walked eastwards to another lift which happens to be the service lift. when down all the way, and up again cuz the doors were again locked. then at lvl 3, we saw this group of workers and decided to ask them for directions. they us out of where we were and we were finally on the right track. one of the cg members were getting desperate cuz he needed to crap and thus, we were really glad to be in our rooms.
after we unloaded our stuff, all gathered in my room and we went shopping. with such a big group, it was tough. we went out of the shopping center, felt the cool breeze and abit of drizzle, decided to stay there longer cuz the feeling was quite shiok, to be among the clouds. dan didn't bring his jacket thus he went up first and after awhile, we decided to have free time until 7.30pm before we meet for dinner.
i forgot where we went for dinner but it was nothing good and super expensive. in fact, one bowl of wanton mee cost 6 sing and duck rice around 8 sing. the food is served moderately warm or cold and the portion is pathetic. oh ya, we had dinner at some food court which sells things at average 12 riggit.
at 10, we had a short worship then we started discussing our cg goals for 2008. spent most of the time thrashing on issues that is crucial to the growth of the cg. took us quite awhile to really sort things out. really thank god for showing us the solution and yes, all we have to do is to try and be willing to make a difference.
ended quite late, we had to sleep early cuz the next day gonna be long and all had to wake up at 7 to be on time for morning devotions. after everyone went back to their rooms, i could hear marcus and tsura having their mini gheyboxing singing some chinese songs really loudly. when i went over, marcus was dancing in front of the tv. quite funny la but i kind of used to it alr.
next day morning, devotion was abit disorganised cuz i suddenly lost my thoughts eventhough i got most of the things down. had to pray while sharing both at the same time cuz i felt God challenging the cg in another area that i had prepared. we ended of with prayer in which dan lum prayed for courage to get on the rides and the rest of us prayed for weather. so ya, after devotions, we had breakfast at macs then we moved on to the amusement park.
the rides were quite fun but the queue was horrendous. we took videos on the most extreme ride which is the free fall thingy. it goes really very high up, stop for 12secs before u dropped down for 5 secs then go up, 4s, 3 s etc. at first i thought i could really tank it like a man. so i left my hands and legs up in the air. when the thing dropped down, i became half a man and grabbed the bars holding me down rather tightly and screamed (in a manly voice.. duh!). the fear lasted for like 2 secs only. then it became quite shiok.
the second ride that was even scarier than the free fall was tea cup. it might seem rather harmless, wait till u ride with dan chia. he spin the cup at almost 1.5 rev/s. i felt as tho i was gonna get thrown out of the cup. uncontrollably, my body slided down and when dan told me that can almost elbow my face, i wanted to move but couldn't cuz of the high speed and giddiness. i was really glad that the ride was finally over and yes, thank god that i'm alive. i couldn't move for a few seconds cuz the world was spinning in all directions.
we headed back to the hotel at 6 plus i think, some of them went to play archery and some shopping. anyway, i felt nauseous so i had to go back to bathe and rest abit. had our dinner at pizza hut, after waiting for like half an hour. by now u must have realised that most of our meals were settled in fastfood. its weird cuz we realised that fast food is cheaper than normal food.
did abit of shopping at FOS and wanted to queue up for indoor rides but once again, the queue was rather appalling and totally turned us off. thus, we decided to head back to our rooms to rest since we were out at 8am and by then it was already 10pm and everyone's tired. most of the guys gathered at marcus's room to watch disturbia on his ipod, plucked to the tv. then, we played cards at the corridor till 12am before going to my room to play cards again till 1am before loke chased them off cuz he needed to sleep.
oh ya, there was this cute conversation at the bumper boat rides, involving marcus huang and the operator who controls the ride. there was this weight limit capped at 75kg and marcus looked slightly more than 75kg.
operator: what's ur weight?
cg member: he's 73kg
operator: 75kg cannot take the ride
cg member: he's 73kg le
operator: ya, 75kg cannot take the ride
cg member: 73kg is lesser than 75kg
operator: orh okie.
while waiting to go for this ride, as requested by edmund, when the queue was like one ride away, it started drizzling so the operator sort of closed the ride, thus we went off to another ride. when we saw that the ride was operational again, we came back and when we were like one ride away again, it started pouring. since both times we waited for like 1 hr in total, we were so bored that i think derric came up with this apple juice thingy, that is to flick the adam's apple and joel went on with the herpes attack with jerrick. marcus was singing the enchanted songs and loke was trying to find a guild to join.
day 3 morning, we woke up abit later for devotions. had a short sharing of how the year's been for us and cuz of our big group, it took quite awhile for us to finish but i felt that it was good to close our retreat with this.
we split up for breakfast and i got slaughtered quite abit. ordered fried rice with one fish and one egg and it cost my frigging 16 riggit. marcus was worse, he ordered fried rice chicken and sotong and paid 23 riggit for it.
we did some shopping again, suppose to take the bus at 1.45 but it dragged to 4pm. we played cards awhile, go to terminal, went shopping again, go back to terminal and played cards at the terminal until our bus arrived. most of us slept during the first 2 hrs. when it was around 8pm, all of us stuck our faces on the glass window trying to spot stars. it was quite a pretty sight. so err, i guess that was it. sigh, i'm really sleepy now and i still got alot of christmas cards to write. goodnight!! merry christmas to all :)

its kinda late to be blogging about tm camp but it'll be worse not to. this year's camp was totally not what i had in mind. this was the first camp that didn't bring us to our spiritual peaks, at least for me. instead, it prepared me for the journey with Jesus after the camp. it would be cliche to say that i felt like a different person so lets just put it this way, after surrendering part of my life to God, i felt cleaner in a way.
its amazing how little things that u never thought it would be that serious to pile up so quickly that by the time u realised it, u are trapped in the blackhole. thankfully, God is more powerful than that and he rescued me from the hole with escape speed greater than the gravitational pull (im trying to apply whatever i have learnt from physics. heh)
while everyone was praying for the giant to be released, i knew i had something to let go and thus i wanted to be prayed for. anyway, when i tried to stay there and wait for pple to pray for me, i felt very disturbed within me. as i opened my eyes, i saw my cg members standing there waiting for pple to pray for them and there i was trying to get the same thing. it was quite a struggle because i never ministered before. like what shaun ong said, every journey begins with a first step. thus, i went forward and pray for pple. then, the HS came pouring down on me as i prayed and u know what, i realised that ministers might have a possibility of having more of the spirit.
firstly, to minister, ur walk with God must be better than the rest. thus, instead of seeking God during altar calls, u seek God more even before altar call happens so as to prepare urself and be equipped with the HS to pray and minister. simple truth like spending more time with God = more of the Spirit can often be placed in the back of our minds. i'm sure all of us know that but yet so few of us bothered to do something. it all goes back to one question, how important is God to u? standard ten year series answer, He is my everything, He is my all, my first priority etc. if u say u love God, its only words if u don't do anything about it. will u call someone ur best friend if u dun even feel like spending time with him/her?
so ya, that was my reflection for this camp. i managed to get to know some of my cg members more and some small kids in tm. its quite an achievements because the kids are of different world from me. to understand them, i felt that the only things that we can talk about is maple story for guys and girls, i'm not really sure yet. but as you spend time with them, its quite easy to get along.
i'm glad that alden came down and i'm glad that God was with him so strongly, so abundantly. heard from the sec 4 cg that they prayed for the MIAs in their own time and u know i guess i shld do something about that too. i am quite sure of what are the talents that God has blessed me with and now the tough part is to use it for his glory. edmund's gonna be stepping down soon and he has been a great help. i guess he's been the one who always put me on the right track and the one who will points out things that i might have missed. o well, half a year left, still have time to learn from him.
after the camp, my cg has become quite close, in terms of fun. derric came to me and said something like finally being able to talk to the girls. quite funny in a way but yea, a good start. we watched enchanted together and most of us felt that is was quite ghey but nice. most of us picked up some spastic moves or verses from that movie and started displaying their affections for one another outside macs. i'll leave it to ur imagination and lets just say that it was an enchanted experience. lol
going to mugen's house later. we going to stay overnight at various houses and go off to genting from there. really excited for this trip and the trip after this. kelong sounds really fun too. fresh seafood for lunch and dinner. yummy!!

A missionary on furlough told this true story while visiting his home church in Michigan. 'While serving at a small field hospital in Africa, every two weeks I traveled by bicycle through the jungle to a nearby city for supplies. This was a journey of two days and required camping overnight at the halfway point.
On one of these journeys, I arrived in the city where I planned to collect money from a bank, purchase medicine, and supplies,and then begin my two-day journey back to the field hospital.> Upon arrival in the city, I observed two men fighting, one of whom had been seriously injured. I treated him for his injuries and at the same time talked to him about the Lord.I then traveled two days, camping overnight, and arrived home without incident.
Two weeks later I repeated my journey.Upon arriving in the city, I was approached by the young man I had treated. He told me that he had known I carried money and medicines. He said, 'Some friends and I followed you into the jungle, knowing you would camp overnight. We planned to kill you and take your money and drugs. But just as we were about to move into your camp, we saw that you were surrounded by 26 armed guards.
At this, I laughed and said that I was certainly all alone in that jungle campsite.The young man pressed the point, however, and said, 'No, sir, I was not the only person to see the guards, my friends also saw them, and we all counted them. It was because of those guards that we were afraid and left you alone.'
At this point in the sermon, one of the men in the congregation jumped to his feet and interrupted the missionary and asked if he could tell him the exact day this happened. The missionary told the congregation the date, and the man who interrupted told him this story: 'On the night of your incident in Africa, it was morning here and I was preparing to go play golf. I was about to putt when I felt the urge to pray for you. In fact, the urging of the Lord was so strong, I called men in this church to meet with me here in the sanctuary to pray for you. Would all of those men who met with me on that day stand up?'The men who had met together to pray that day stood up. The missionary wasn't concerned with who they were, he was too busy counting how many men he saw. There were 26.

i think i made too many commitments this dec and i am kinda regretting it now. i have like 7 days to play before school reopens for now. out of which, a few days might be taken out for more meetings and recce at sentosa to do my hall camp planning.
my cheerleading training just ended and i got punched by my friend who fell when we carried her with out arms fully stretched out. then as when i caught her, i received a surprise attack and as a result, got a swollen eye.
i have yet to visit the zoo and suddenly i feel like doing so. hopefully i can find a proper date that everyone's free to fulfill my dream. heh
oh ya, been going out with my cg quite alot. really fun to hang out with them. we had like tennis, followed by squash, abit of soccer and table tennis. table tennis was tough because we used tennis rackets and the tennis ball to play. the soccer ball got lost when mella kicked to hard till it fell into the bushes at cheryl's friend condo. mella and jerrick tried to venture into the bushes, used my tennis racket to clear the plants and thus created a pathway. all these was recorded using my hp. next time when they offend me i'll used it against them. heh.
after squash, i had to rush off for a movie with my parents but i went to sarah's house to look for them and continued playing till 11.15pm. we played pig and everything was normal till everyone became at least a 1st class pig, except for daniel loke and me. so with daniel talking alot of crap as usual, the pigs rebelled against the humans and end up attacking daniel.
while we were walking home, lum was quite thrilled by the number of stars in the sky and that gave me an idea of bring groundsheet to genting to look at stars. but then again, it might be too cloudy. oh well, kinda excited for tm camp right now. i need to pack my stuff soon!!

we headed back to the hotel at 6 plus i think, some of them went to play archery and some shopping. anyway, i felt nauseous so i had to go back to bathe and rest abit. had our dinner at pizza hut, after waiting for like half an hour. by now u must have realised that most of our meals were settled in fastfood. its weird cuz we realised that fast food is cheaper than normal food.
did abit of shopping at FOS and wanted to queue up for indoor rides but once again, the queue was rather appalling and totally turned us off. thus, we decided to head back to our rooms to rest since we were out at 8am and by then it was already 10pm and everyone's tired. most of the guys gathered at marcus's room to watch disturbia on his ipod, plucked to the tv. then, we played cards at the corridor till 12am before going to my room to play cards again till 1am before loke chased them off cuz he needed to sleep.
oh ya, there was this cute conversation at the bumper boat rides, involving marcus huang and the operator who controls the ride. there was this weight limit capped at 75kg and marcus looked slightly more than 75kg.
operator: what's ur weight?
cg member: he's 73kg
operator: 75kg cannot take the ride
cg member: he's 73kg le
operator: ya, 75kg cannot take the ride
cg member: 73kg is lesser than 75kg
operator: orh okie.
while waiting to go for this ride, as requested by edmund, when the queue was like one ride away, it started drizzling so the operator sort of closed the ride, thus we went off to another ride. when we saw that the ride was operational again, we came back and when we were like one ride away again, it started pouring. since both times we waited for like 1 hr in total, we were so bored that i think derric came up with this apple juice thingy, that is to flick the adam's apple and joel went on with the herpes attack with jerrick. marcus was singing the enchanted songs and loke was trying to find a guild to join.
day 3 morning, we woke up abit later for devotions. had a short sharing of how the year's been for us and cuz of our big group, it took quite awhile for us to finish but i felt that it was good to close our retreat with this.
we split up for breakfast and i got slaughtered quite abit. ordered fried rice with one fish and one egg and it cost my frigging 16 riggit. marcus was worse, he ordered fried rice chicken and sotong and paid 23 riggit for it.
we did some shopping again, suppose to take the bus at 1.45 but it dragged to 4pm. we played cards awhile, go to terminal, went shopping again, go back to terminal and played cards at the terminal until our bus arrived. most of us slept during the first 2 hrs. when it was around 8pm, all of us stuck our faces on the glass window trying to spot stars. it was quite a pretty sight. so err, i guess that was it. sigh, i'm really sleepy now and i still got alot of christmas cards to write. goodnight!! merry christmas to all :)

its kinda late to be blogging about tm camp but it'll be worse not to. this year's camp was totally not what i had in mind. this was the first camp that didn't bring us to our spiritual peaks, at least for me. instead, it prepared me for the journey with Jesus after the camp. it would be cliche to say that i felt like a different person so lets just put it this way, after surrendering part of my life to God, i felt cleaner in a way.
its amazing how little things that u never thought it would be that serious to pile up so quickly that by the time u realised it, u are trapped in the blackhole. thankfully, God is more powerful than that and he rescued me from the hole with escape speed greater than the gravitational pull (im trying to apply whatever i have learnt from physics. heh)
while everyone was praying for the giant to be released, i knew i had something to let go and thus i wanted to be prayed for. anyway, when i tried to stay there and wait for pple to pray for me, i felt very disturbed within me. as i opened my eyes, i saw my cg members standing there waiting for pple to pray for them and there i was trying to get the same thing. it was quite a struggle because i never ministered before. like what shaun ong said, every journey begins with a first step. thus, i went forward and pray for pple. then, the HS came pouring down on me as i prayed and u know what, i realised that ministers might have a possibility of having more of the spirit.
firstly, to minister, ur walk with God must be better than the rest. thus, instead of seeking God during altar calls, u seek God more even before altar call happens so as to prepare urself and be equipped with the HS to pray and minister. simple truth like spending more time with God = more of the Spirit can often be placed in the back of our minds. i'm sure all of us know that but yet so few of us bothered to do something. it all goes back to one question, how important is God to u? standard ten year series answer, He is my everything, He is my all, my first priority etc. if u say u love God, its only words if u don't do anything about it. will u call someone ur best friend if u dun even feel like spending time with him/her?
so ya, that was my reflection for this camp. i managed to get to know some of my cg members more and some small kids in tm. its quite an achievements because the kids are of different world from me. to understand them, i felt that the only things that we can talk about is maple story for guys and girls, i'm not really sure yet. but as you spend time with them, its quite easy to get along.
i'm glad that alden came down and i'm glad that God was with him so strongly, so abundantly. heard from the sec 4 cg that they prayed for the MIAs in their own time and u know i guess i shld do something about that too. i am quite sure of what are the talents that God has blessed me with and now the tough part is to use it for his glory. edmund's gonna be stepping down soon and he has been a great help. i guess he's been the one who always put me on the right track and the one who will points out things that i might have missed. o well, half a year left, still have time to learn from him.
after the camp, my cg has become quite close, in terms of fun. derric came to me and said something like finally being able to talk to the girls. quite funny in a way but yea, a good start. we watched enchanted together and most of us felt that is was quite ghey but nice. most of us picked up some spastic moves or verses from that movie and started displaying their affections for one another outside macs. i'll leave it to ur imagination and lets just say that it was an enchanted experience. lol
going to mugen's house later. we going to stay overnight at various houses and go off to genting from there. really excited for this trip and the trip after this. kelong sounds really fun too. fresh seafood for lunch and dinner. yummy!!

A missionary on furlough told this true story while visiting his home church in Michigan. 'While serving at a small field hospital in Africa, every two weeks I traveled by bicycle through the jungle to a nearby city for supplies. This was a journey of two days and required camping overnight at the halfway point.
On one of these journeys, I arrived in the city where I planned to collect money from a bank, purchase medicine, and supplies,and then begin my two-day journey back to the field hospital.> Upon arrival in the city, I observed two men fighting, one of whom had been seriously injured. I treated him for his injuries and at the same time talked to him about the Lord.I then traveled two days, camping overnight, and arrived home without incident.
Two weeks later I repeated my journey.Upon arriving in the city, I was approached by the young man I had treated. He told me that he had known I carried money and medicines. He said, 'Some friends and I followed you into the jungle, knowing you would camp overnight. We planned to kill you and take your money and drugs. But just as we were about to move into your camp, we saw that you were surrounded by 26 armed guards.
At this, I laughed and said that I was certainly all alone in that jungle campsite.The young man pressed the point, however, and said, 'No, sir, I was not the only person to see the guards, my friends also saw them, and we all counted them. It was because of those guards that we were afraid and left you alone.'
At this point in the sermon, one of the men in the congregation jumped to his feet and interrupted the missionary and asked if he could tell him the exact day this happened. The missionary told the congregation the date, and the man who interrupted told him this story: 'On the night of your incident in Africa, it was morning here and I was preparing to go play golf. I was about to putt when I felt the urge to pray for you. In fact, the urging of the Lord was so strong, I called men in this church to meet with me here in the sanctuary to pray for you. Would all of those men who met with me on that day stand up?'The men who had met together to pray that day stood up. The missionary wasn't concerned with who they were, he was too busy counting how many men he saw. There were 26.

i think i made too many commitments this dec and i am kinda regretting it now. i have like 7 days to play before school reopens for now. out of which, a few days might be taken out for more meetings and recce at sentosa to do my hall camp planning.
my cheerleading training just ended and i got punched by my friend who fell when we carried her with out arms fully stretched out. then as when i caught her, i received a surprise attack and as a result, got a swollen eye.
i have yet to visit the zoo and suddenly i feel like doing so. hopefully i can find a proper date that everyone's free to fulfill my dream. heh
oh ya, been going out with my cg quite alot. really fun to hang out with them. we had like tennis, followed by squash, abit of soccer and table tennis. table tennis was tough because we used tennis rackets and the tennis ball to play. the soccer ball got lost when mella kicked to hard till it fell into the bushes at cheryl's friend condo. mella and jerrick tried to venture into the bushes, used my tennis racket to clear the plants and thus created a pathway. all these was recorded using my hp. next time when they offend me i'll used it against them. heh.
after squash, i had to rush off for a movie with my parents but i went to sarah's house to look for them and continued playing till 11.15pm. we played pig and everything was normal till everyone became at least a 1st class pig, except for daniel loke and me. so with daniel talking alot of crap as usual, the pigs rebelled against the humans and end up attacking daniel.
while we were walking home, lum was quite thrilled by the number of stars in the sky and that gave me an idea of bring groundsheet to genting to look at stars. but then again, it might be too cloudy. oh well, kinda excited for tm camp right now. i need to pack my stuff soon!!

for the benefit of my cg, i'll post the date of our fasting here. fasting starts from 6am to 6pm. during this period of time, u are to abstain from food and only PLAIN WATER is allowed. take time to pray for our retreat in genting, that
