i am finally back from camp. it was by far the longest one that i went for, the craziest one too. it started off with a pre-camp on sunday in which we met at clementi mrt control. we were suppose to take the catered bus owned by one of the seniors to NUS. i recognised holly and jun jie cuz they were there at ps for a camp briefing a few days back. so it took us awhile to introduce one another but it was hard cuz most of the people from my group have exotic names. for guys, there's william melvin jianshun branson weihao junjie and bertram. girls, elsa holly raisa belicia xiaoyuan jj and xiujun. i took a couple of days to really know their names but occasionally, will still forget the names. its been quite awhile since i last participated in a camp involving mixing with a new crowd of people so certain skills got lost along the way. before i forgot, i was/am part of the S group family now.

a little background knowledge about S group. we are known to have the strongest bonds as compared with the rest of the group. our seniors from the past 8 batches had been very supportive and still are. our motto is not to win but rather to have fun. thus, during most games, we will try to cheat, not to win but to enjoy the process of cheating cuz it makes it more exciting and fun. our cheers are mainly hokkien but unlike what u hear outside, it has actually got some standard! welfare is a definitely part of the culture. amidst all the sabo-ing of freshies and direct seniors, the seniors never fail to bring us food, bought with their own money, to feed us in between games when the meal times are still quite far away and we are hungry. in addition to pipakou, we have endless supplies of heineken flowing around. according to fia, everyone from the group enjoys drinking so we have more beer than any other iced drinks.

introduction was done at NUS sports area, an open batch area beside the tennis courts. we learnt how to dance the cannibal king and the chanting cheer (in which we nv initiate to use it throughout the camp). after some more sabo games, it came to a point of time whereby everyone was asked to be blindfolded and led inside the van again. from there, we travelled to an uluated park into a rundown house for our night walk. while in the blindfold, i needed to pee so i requested to take out my blindfold awhile, just to make sure nothing weird bite my brother when i pee. so i went on to finish up nature's calling just in front of the seniors. it was super awkward cuz this is the first time im doing this sort of thing in front of people of the opposite gender. so as u can see, that was another culture shock but i suppose after awhile i realised that we are adults so we should see things differently or so it seems.

the nightwalk was scary. as a matter of fact, i was abit freaked out at first. its been like 3 yrs since i last went for one. there is one big difference tho, the ghost from this night walk will talk to u. maybe talk is an understatement. they screamed right in your face when u least expected them too. even if u know its going to happen, nevertheless, its inevitable that u will jumped up. from ghosts giving direction to looking for their spouses, to daughters, to makeup, to tasks to perform for them like retrieving slippers and find eye balls. the task wasn't that tough but its walking around around the place with the eerie music that makes the whole thing seemed as though its not going to end like anytime soon. i must admit that i felt kinda relieved immediately after i got out of the house.

zinc and a few other seniors were on a hill welcoming us and plainly talking to us. throughout the whole walk, only holly screamed and teared while going through. it was the continuous kind with lots of emotions mixed together. those kind that will get u worried that something might happen if she continued to get frightened by the unnatural. raisa on the other hand was abnormally calm and expressionless. she walked the whole thing with ease and thought that the one she went through the week before was better.

so when everyone finished the walk, we went back down to the van to get back to a chalet to rest. in the van, initially when the "ghost" loaded up, holly continued to scream uncontrollably even after the seniors explained that they are merely human. i think the night walk had imprinted fear all over her and she was like overtaken by it and thus such reaction emerged when white figures are present.

so at the chalet, guys and girls were separated, head facing each other. i was the first to get comfortable by lying down cuz i was sick and tired. soon after more and more people joined in and eventually the seniors evacuated the place and off the lights for us before the went downstairs to chat. surprisingly, that faithful night, i was the only one who fell asleep in accordance to the information i gathered from my camp mates. and so, that marks the end of the precamp and the beginning of uoc2007.
