first and foremost, thank u uncle teck chuan and aunty sylvia for organising this church camp. it was indeed extremely refreshing and fun!!
this was my first time having so many people sleeping in one room, EVER!! my bunk got 3 rooms-
the main masterbed room with a king size bed and a private toilet was occupied by james amiel and me
the small room without the mirror was ivan and gabriel
the small room with a mirror was loo shin and moses
the living room was occupied by clement and pong from the second day onwards.
the thing about this hotel was that its HUGE and the rooms are dang nice. i didn't take much photos of the scenary cuz i forgot and that's sad. i dun think we will be going there like anytime soon so ya, use ur own imagination. there was like one pool just 15 s walk from our room and opposite the pool is where we had our meals. the lunch tasted quite bad but i like the breakfast and dinner. oh yea, they rocked!!
first day of camp, we touched down around 4 plus, by the time we had our briefing, it was about dinner time already. the first thing we did when we reached our room was our church camp tradition, pillow fight. i think that only happens when the bus gang are together and sadly, i got gang bang. clement amiel james tried to wallop me but the good always triumph over evil. soon after, more people joined in, it was like free for all kinda thing so we just anyhow spammed our pillows onto one another. by the time it was worship, i was totally shagged out.
the first sermon, it was about radical discipleship. rev edmund broke the verse luke 9:23 into 4 parts.
a. if anyone come after me (pursuit)
fact no 1, alot of people followed after Jesus because he was like a celebrity, people were curious about what he can do, what he say etc. are we following God because being a christian is cool? what are we pursuing in our life?
b. let him deny himself (posture)
it is about surrendering to God fully. it is an all or nothing situation.
c. and take up his cross daily (perseverance)
notice the word daily. other than that, it is quite self explainatory
d. and follow Me.. (passion)
crave out your own adventure with God.
the sermon went on for quite long. after that, it was response time, we were asked whether we wanted to surrender our lives to God. from our seats, we were invited to come to the front, starting from the back row as an act of declaration to God that we are willing to be surrender.
the day ended with that. discussion was cancelled due to the lack of time and so we went back to our rooms. the aircon at the living room was spoilt so clement moved his bed into my room and then jeremy decided to move the couch in as well. we took a photo with all of us in that room, u can take a look at it if u can't visualise. shortly after that, i suggested to play king of the hill and pong made me like the primary target again. oh, rules of that game is simple. all of us start off by getting on the bed and whoever falls off the bed loses so ya, winner will be the one who can stay on the bed the longest. it lasted for i think 3 mins after that, i decided to sleep.
i tried to sleep early because i felt really tired and i wanted to go for dawn touch the next day. at past midnight, we were still awake because jeremy didn't have a blanket and he kept on grabbing my feet and asking us whose leg it was. i think he wanted to grab amiel's but somehow my leg was on his range of fire. so with somebody touching/holding on to my ankle and amiel playing with the lights and james trying to pull the blanket more to his side and clement asking jeremy not to take his jacket, I COULDN'T SLEEP TILL 1AM when jeremy decided to give up his couch and slept with clement on the temp bed. then, amiel got so tired after playing psp so he returned it and came back. within minutes, he fell asleep and started snoring really loudly. i was badly affected by it because before he snore, he will roll closer to me and snore in my ear. then as my push him aside or shaft my pillow on his face, the snoring stopped awile. the time in which he stopped snoring and before he starts again was the time in which i have to fall asleep if not i have to wait for the next cycle. this went on till around 3am when i was so tired that all the noise didn't really matters anymore.
obviously i didn't went for dawn touch cuz of the lack of sleep. we woke up late, but we didn't miss breakfast. thank goodness ivan was around to wake us up every morning. session 2 was about the discipleship of calling (matt 5:13-16). it talks about 2 things: being the salt of the earth and being the light of the world.
salt of the earth refers to the uniqueness of being a child of God. we are called to be different, leading a supernatural life closely connected with God to do his work.
light of the world refers to our destiny. God uses ordinary folks like us to do great things for Him.
like i said above, lunch was bad. i went back to take a nap after lunch and by the time i woke up, it was time for team building games. the games were rather dull after awhile cuz it deals with the same things but i managed to entertain myself. found a super cute kid call jonathon and started to play with him. from then on, everytime he sees me at the dining area or the marquee, he will climb onto my lap and sit with me. i took quite alot of photos with him :P
the weather that day was quite bad, in fact it was drizzling but too bad it didn't spoil our mood for swimming at all. irregardless of the rain, we had our annual water polo at the pool (duh) but we played half court cuz the rest of the people can swim and also that the pool is quite deep on the other side so ya. overshot dinner time abit before we went to bathe then we went to eat and slept till worship after that. all of us were shagged out by then. session 3 was about focus but rev edmund was focus on his topic at all. all i learnt from that sermon was that i must be changed fully. that spoke to me really deep and i was determined to ask god for that. during the altar call, most of us responded and i made a commitment with god that i'm willing to change. i won't explain further here cuz its quite personal but ya, i felt that it was a good start.
day 3 was somewhat the same, except that my bunkmates got lazier and made me go for the workshop alone. the free and easy timeslot rocks cuz we went to the pool straight. the water polo game was like the same too cuz i always ended up with the team of either the lesser people or the weaker team but anyhow, from all the compliments i received, it seemed as though i am quite good (or maybe i really am in which i think to a certain extend i should agree with). just because i am quite good at being the goal keeper, i got stuck there like forever and couldn't really be a striker. so after awhile i decided to shoot from far, as in from the goal post. i think its better cuz i scared that if i were to shoot at a near range, somebody might go back singapore with a flat face. i mean this kind of throwing if in contact with ur face, u can kiss ur beautiful nose goodbye.
the sermons that day was quite clear cut. the lessons i got from there was that God wants to bless us. prayer is about asking God, communicating with God (4) and when we serve Him, consider ourselves as the lowest, but with authority. after that sermon, it really made me think through my attitude towards service. to sum up all the sermons, the concluding one (6) was about following God fully, gladly and only. we are called to be PDA christians which stands for
- personal revival
- divine appointment
- active obedience
after that sermon, the sunny day became dark again and after awhile when we started swimming, it was hot again. wynn borrowed my tanning oil to tan (duh) just to match her outfit later on in the day. as i walked pass the pool later on, saw them baking themselves on a rock at the side of the medium pool. reminded me of the time when i had bbq on a marble rock. hah
gala night was cool. all the 4 mcs did a really good job. loke's imitation of jack sparrow was fantastic. in fact, i realised that he just needed to be himself. before the event started, he was wearing shades and telling people that he's tom cruise, we were totally convinced (similar height).
u know i bet u can tell that im trying to finish up the updating of this entry so ya, i shall not continue to do so cuz gala night is fun only when u were present. it can't be spelt out, fun can't really be potrayed in words, unless u are a geek and i believe u are not so ya, if u really wanna know what happened, look at the photos, they say a thousand words.
