i happen to have an off day last friday. we were suppose to have an early book out on the thursday afternoon after lunch but apparently, it got cancelled for some unknown reason. the entire platoon just sat in the bunk from 12-6pm thinking of what to do. obviously, the fastest way to pass time was to sleep and that was the decision that i made.however, no matter how hard i tried to sleep after like lazing on my bed for the past few days, i reached my limit at around 3pm. knowing myself that i can't do nothing for the rest of the time before booking out, i played monopioly on my phone. can u believe it, that's my platoon lastest craze to solve the problem of boredom.
feeling stony after having to wait for 6hrs, i reached the final stage of petrification. i chose to stone at home to attempt to complete the final fantasy 7, that i started off since last year i think. putting all the siansation aside, vesak day seemed to be totally opposite from the sluggish life that i have lived in camp thus far.
kenneth met me at pasir ris mrt to go pulau ubin for a cycling trip. there were a total of 5 of us, a small group but nevertheless, extremely happening. we were horrified when we realised that we have to queue just to get in ubin, an island that was suppose to be kinda ulu and a place that will definitely not cross the minds of a typical singaporean when comes to planning for an outing. our somewhat logical conclusion was proven to be trash. the queue went all the way from the basement to the ground level. the whole place was packed!
anyhow, we got on the ferry, got stopped by some coastguard to perform some routine check for illegal immigrants i suppose. our IC got confiscated awhile, to verify that we are really singaporeans. while undergoing this process, an idea suddenly struck us. from a suppose to be a scary encounter turn out to be one of the highlights of the day. we took lots of photos that made us looked as tho we were fugitives, hawkers from china and the woo-la-la girls from james bond movie??!! the passengers on board gave us this hysterical look but we didn't really care less since an outing such as thee should be appreciated in a different angle, an artistic and creative one that is. heh
cycling around, trying to get lost was really fun. we managed to locate the quarry whereby tourists can actually climb through the fence for photo taking. it wasn't allowed but since the fence became holey, we decided to bash through a narrow pavement to reach an open space with the perfect view of the quarry. so B E W T I F O O L.
our next stop was chek chawak, which apparently a place known to us with alot of crabs, judging from our previous trip there. within a short period of 6months, the place where once upon a time full of crabs turned into some dirty beach with alot of seaweed. i found a pathetic crab tho. we sat there for quite awhile becuase by that time, everyone was like totally shagged out. we sat on the big rock, just enjoying the cool but smelly breeze. it took us quite awhile to finally convinced ourselves that we should leave the island before it rains. it was somewhat like a known fact since the sky was filled with dark clouds. just between the 5 of us, we took out 4 umbrellas and combined it together to form a nice shelter for the 5 of us to fit in perfectly. in this arrangement, we progress from like the welcome sign back to the jetty since there was yet another long queuen. bleah
went for prayers after that, since grace was like with me so ya. thought it would be quite cool to join prayer meeting. its hard to have a friday night available for night stuff cuz of the army. speaking of which, i got to book in today again. tomorrow still have guard duty and that sucks. i will be trying to sell of the guard duty, but is it worth it?? after the primary school birthday party cum stayover that i attended, my body tells me that i am no longer young and that i need to rest. i love my primary school friends and its really cool to have this closeness maintain after such a long time.
